New Logo!

I have a new logo!

Thanks to my wonderful friend and the fabulous artist Ian Turner, I now have a logo to make some fancy tags for the teddies and new pillows, and my Etsy page's shop banner.

Please visit Ian's sites, as his stuff truly is awesome!

Sneak Peek!!!

I have been lazy with updating my blog lately. Sorry! With road trips, scavenging for awesome fabric and buttons and sewing up a storm, my blog got neglected :(

Well, here are a few pictures to show some projects I am working on!

I have collected some interesting fabrics, blankets, bar towels, pins and patches to create some funky throw pillows! Here are a few...some that are finished and some that aren't stuffed yet (who knew that pillows take so much polyfill!)

Old quilt panels I found at an antique store with a tweed blanket backing!
Plaid cord salvaged fabric with bowling patch
Salvaged fabric and fringe with tweed blanket
Plaid cord salvaged fabric with hockey patch
Not finished yet...but will have two of these guys! Square pillows with salvaged fabric...one side yellow and grey paisley and one side grey upholstery
The colour doesn't show up on my camera too well, but this is bright purple salvaged fabric pillow with patches. These pillows will be long and awesome once stuffed!

First Photo Shoot

So my Etsy site is finally up and running! So far I only have some headbands/ear warmers on there...but there will hopefully be a selection of cute and cuddly teddy bears on there for sale on Monday!

So to create my site, I needed to take some stylish photos to show how amazing my stuff is. Luckily I have a nice camera and a boyfriend who is quite the shutterbug. With a nice backdrop, some natural lighting, and a bunch of make-up to cover up how tired I was, we created a few shots of my headbands.

I then took a few macro shots to show the details and colours up close.

I got busy uploading the photos, choosing the right ones, and creating the postings :)

There are a total of 6 headbands for sale on my site right now! Please check them out and spread the word.

I also take custom orders if you have a style, colour, or type of yarn in mind. Just send me a message or comment and I will be happy to discuss with you.

Irving the Teddy Bear

For Valentine's Day this year, my boyfriend and I were separated by a few hundred kilometres (about 500km to be exact). So, I decided to send him a little care package to his office to celebrate the day...and also to embarrass him.

I baked a bunch of heart-shaped sugar cookies and some cinnamon/chocolate covered heart cookies to be shared around his office, and made some chocolates and date-squares (his favourite).

I also decided to sew him his very own Lisberry Designs teddy bear. I used one of his old sweaters that he grew out of and some army green coloured buttons. I changed up my pattern a bit to make the bear larger and more cuddle-able. This in turn made him very lanky and in my eyes...adorable.

Canada Post ended up delivering the care package a day late, but the cookies were still appreciated and devoured on February 15th. The teddy was also an instant hit in his office and became an unofficial mascot sitting on his desk.

Talking with some of his co-workers the next weekend, we came up with the name 'Irving' for the teddy, after the name of the theatre my boyfriend works at.

I decided to make a name tag for Irving using wool roving and needle felting.

In other news, my Etsy store is FINALLY open! Please take a look around, shop, browse, share with friends, and spread the word :) More will be added soon, including a few new teddies I am working on!

My first sale!

So last week I made my first sale!!!

My bestie Jacqueline wanted a earwarmer that she could use for running (she's an avid runner), so she asked me to make her one!

I decided to make her a cabled head/ear warmer because I wanted to test out my cable-ing skills. The cables became less pronounced after I blocked it.
 I used a wool/acrylic/alpaca blend "tweed" yarn.
I think she liked it!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

On the Lisberry Designs blog, you can read about some of my projects (knit, sewn and crocheted...or any other crafty thing I might be up to) and how my new business is going!

So how did 'Lisberry Designs' start?

Well...after getting a "make your own stuffed animal" book for Christmas from my wonderful sister-in-law, I decided to made my very own teddy bear named 'Señor Teddy'. I made him out of some wool socks I bought at Zellers and some old buttons from my late Babcia's (grandmother) giant stash of buttons. He turned out great and I instantly fell in love with him!

Señor Teddy was made on a whim and was the start of a small adventure and the beginning of Lisberry Designs.

One Saturday, Señor Teddy made a trip to Penetanguishine, Ontario...a small town north of Barrie, Penetang for short. His job was to convince the wonderful ladies at Art on the Hill to sell some of my handmade creations. He made such a great impression, that not only did they want to sell Teddy's brothers and sisters made out of recycled clothes, they also wanted to sell anything else I wanted to make. So 'Lisberry Designs' was born! I got busy sewing, crocheting and knitting to deliver teddies, headwarmers, barrettes and shamrock pins to Penetang in time for their annual winter carnival, Penetanguishene Winterama, the oldest winter carnival in North America.

'Ruby' who was made out of an old turtleneck and is currently for sale at Art on the Hill

I'll continue to make things for Art on the Hill, and will also be setting up an Etsy account in the next few days. I also take custom orders, whether it be a knit or crocheted item or a customized teddy bear.

Keep checking back as I'll be posting some of my new projects!
